The areas I serve in Texas

I cover the Austin Metro area, as far north as Georgetown down south to Kyle. I also can cover everything going out west to Burnet and then East all the way to Rockdale/Giddings which is 30 min. past Downtown. 

My name is Rachel DuBraski and I am the new Local Area Representative with Go Au Pair since 2024. I hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Wheaton College (MA) and a Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy from Fairfield University (CT).

I live in Austin, TX with my husband. I love reading, traveling, and trying new restaurants. When I’m not working with Go Au Pair, I’m the owner/practitioner of my own psychotherapy private practice. I work with couples, families, and individuals. I’m eager to watch and assist Host Families and Au Pairs navigate a smooth placement together that meets everyone’s collective needs. 

Our current Austin Au Pairs are from Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, China, and Mexico with varying hobbies and talents!

Our Austin Host Families have babies all the way up to age 8 and they work in all kind of professions. We currently have Austin host parents in healthcare, operations, construction, technology, business, arts and design, engineering, accounting, social sciences, and counseling. 

Au Pair Cultural Activities

Au Pairs are required to attend a number of Cultural Activities with their Local Area Representative and nearby Au Pairs to make sure they experience the local community and culture during their stay.

The Au Pairs are excited to meet in the bustling Domain for some holiday shopping and fun and have also enjoyed potlucks and trick or treating”. It will be great to add more fun events to the 2025 calendar! 

Additional Resources for Families and Au Pairs in Austin, TX

Au Pairs can get a driver’s license in Texas. Some Au Pairs can use their international license for up to 90 days after their arrival. Host Families will need to check with their insurance agency for the guidelines to add an Au Pair to the insurance. Most Host Families provide car access for their Au Pairs.

au pair social security card informationAn Au Pair will need to get a Social Security # before getting a bank account and driver’s license. Go Au Pair will provide a welcome packet with social security information, on the Au Pairs arrival. We advise Au Pairs to wait 10 days after arrival to get their social security number. You can make an appointment at a social security office, closest to your home.

Child-Friendly Activities for Au Pairs and Host Families

Au Pairs will find that Austin offers a wide variety of exciting things to do and places to visit. There are many historical museums, art displays, scenic touring, and physical activities. Families can help Au Pairs find activities they are most interested in.

A local family tradition since 1948, the kitschy Peter Pan Mini Golf will delight kids and parents alike. Two 18-hole mini golf courses are filled with colorful characters (including a towering T. rex and Peter Pan himself) and challenging obstacles. 

Little ones will love the Thinkery, Austin’s hands-on children’s museum. Located in East Austin’s Mueller community, the Thinkery is equal parts science/technology center and children’s museum, with interactive exhibits and engaging activities. There’s also a playground across the street and ducks to visit at nearby Mueller Lake. 

Get wild at the Austin Zoo, where you’ll see more than 300 animals, including big cats, monkeys, foxes and more native Texas wildlife. Nearly all of the animals at the zoo are rescues. 

Visit the indoor waterpark and resort at Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in neighboring Round Rock. The African-themed resort has 1.5 million square feet of space to play, including an indoor/outdoor waterpark, world-class dining, live entertainment, a thrilling indoor theme park and endless fun.

Lady Bird Lake is the perfect destination for family outings. The Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail skirts along Lady Bird Lake for 10 miles, with amazing downtown views and a well-maintained trail that’s easy on strollers and children’s bikes. Or get out on the water with a guided kayak tour from Austin Kayak Tours or the Rowing Dock.

Take a dip in one of Austin’s spring-fed swimming holes, located in the heart of the city. Barton Springs Pool in Zilker Park maintains a refreshing temperature of 68–70 degrees year-round, and has plenty of grassy areas to spread out. Deep Eddy Pool is the oldest pool in the state and shows poolside movies in the summer.
