What our Host Families love about the Au Pair program

The areas I serve in Pennsylvania
Central Pennsylvania is a beautiful area. We have a few major rivers, and beautiful mountains. There are cities, and country settings. Highways make travel easy!
I am a hard-working, driven and passionate single mom of 3. We are an adventurous family, so we love to be outdoors. Whether it’s traveling to a beach or hiking the local trails, taking a walk or sitting outside by a fire under the open sky is where we love to be! I have a passion for different cultures, art and anything to do with the beach!
I have a Master’s in Psychology and I pride myself i making the world a better place. I love being a Local Success Coach because this position embodies all my passions in one!
I love the Au Pair program! I enjoy working with all the Host Families and Au Pairs, helping to create a wonderful experience for them throughout their year! I’ve seen what a big impact the program has on the Host Parents, children and Au Pairs and I love being a part of that!
My Host family’s range in size, some have 4 kids, while others have 1. Some of the parents work from home, others own a business, while others work a regular 9-5. My Au Pairs have mostly been Spanish speaking young women, mainly from Brazil, Ecuador, and Colombia. They all loved their journey as an Au Pair and enjoyed the local pastimes (snowtubing, swimming, local amusement parks, traveling). Their relationship with families is incredible; they love children and are amazing individuals.
Au Pair Cultural Activities
Au Pairs are required to attend a number of Cultural Activities with their Local Area Representative and nearby Au Pairs to make sure they experience the local community and culture during their stay. Below are some of the activities Amanda’s cluster has been up to recently!
The Greek festival introduced the Au Pair to Greek food and cultural entertainment. There was dancing, arts, crafts, and food trucks. Everyone had a fantastic time! The Au Pairs enjoyed the dancing the most!
Chocolate World was a hit! Everyone loved the free chocolate, but the Au Pairs enjoyed learning that Hershey’s Chocolate uses Coco beans from their native country, interesting if you ask me!
Time at an arcade like Dave and Busters is always fun! The Au Pairs really enjoy seeing the kids play the games and watching their faces light up when they win prizes.
Additional Resources for Families and Au Pairs in Salt Lake City, UT
Au Pairs are permitted to drive in Pennsylvania for up to 1 year with the following documents: an international driver’s license, a home country license, J! Visa, and DS 2024 form
Au Pairs generally drive, although we have tons of public transportation options (depending on where you are). There are public buses, trains, and taxis. Please be mindful that the train stations are mostly in the closest major city.
An Au Pair will need to get a Social Security # before getting a bank account and driver’s license. Go Au Pair will provide a welcome packet with social security information, on the Au Pairs arrival. We advise Au Pairs to wait 10 days after arrival to get their social security number. You can make an appointment at a social security office, closest to your home.
