Au Pair Cultural Activities
Au Pairs are required to attend a number of Cultural Activities with their Local Area Representative and nearby Au Pairs to make sure they experience the local community and culture during their stay. Below are some of the activities Shannon’s cluster has been up to recently!
Here in the Bluegrass State, we love our horses, our food, and our parks! Come enjoy a refreshing day at Masterson Park, an exciting day at Keeneland, or a chill day at one of our plentiful coffeehouses! Get to know the other au pairs in our area through our private Facebook group, our bi-monthly meet-ups, and our group text!

Au Pairs can get a license and drive while in KY. Host Families need to check with their car insurance agency for their rules for adding an Au Pair to the insurance.
City buses, Ubers, and bicycles are some of our best transportation in this area of Kentucky.
Top state schools such as, Asbury University, Transylvania University, and the University of Kentucky (UK), are some of our better known schools!
For a closer-knit feel, community colleges such as Jefferson Community College has been a great choice for our Au Pairs!
Au Pairs and Host Families can learn about tax withholdings and filing specific for the Au Pair program. Always consult a tax advisor to learn how taxes apply.
An Au Pair will need to get a Social Security # before getting a bank account and driver’s license. Go Au Pair will provide a welcome packet with social security information, on the Au Pairs arrival. We advise Au Pairs to wait 10 days after arrival to get their social security number. You can make an appointment at a social security office, closest to your home.

Au Pairs will find that the Lexington area offers a wide variety of exciting things to do and places to visit. From Juniper Hills swimming, to Jacobson Park boating and playing, to the Red River Gorge hiking, there is so much to see and do in lovely Kentucky!
Juniper Hills Aquatic Center is a wonderful way to spend a hot summer day! With waterslides and rock walls, to a lazy river and water obstacle course, there is something for everyone here!
Jacobson Park has access to fishing and boating, as well as a large playground and free splashpad!
Hike the breathtaking Red River Gorge! With sites such as Creation Falls to rest in some shallow waters with a waterfall, to the Natural Bridge, and Horse Head: A RRG hidden gem!
Ride a Riverboat through Louisville! The Belle of Louisville is a cruise through the beautiful downtown of Louisville! This cruise is a fabulous way to enjoy the waters while sipping champagne, and learning about the history of Kentucky!
Enjoy the entire day at Perfect North Slopes! Whether you prefer skiing, snowboarding, or tubing, this winter-wonderland is incredibly fun and exciting!
Cave Kayaking is an exciting way to bridge the love of kayaking with some of our amazing Kentucky caves! With the Crystal Clear Upgrade, you can explore the underground with clear kayaks or paddleboat and the underwater led lights!
