The Twin Cities metropolitan area is comprised of seven counties and dissected by three major rivers—the Minnesota to the south; the Mississippi, which bisects the urban core; and the St. Croix to the east, this is the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. There are over 100 suburbs spread across the Twin Cities metro area. These communities range in size from a few hundred to nearly 85,000 residents. Minneapolis and St. Paul are the two largest cities. St. Paul is the state capital.
I live in South Minneapolis with my husband and daughter. I enjoy traveling, camping and trying new recipes. I have spent many years living in Latin America and working as a teacher. I enjoy my position with Go Au Pair because it combines my interest and skills in early childhood and cross-cultural communication
The Minnesota cluster averages around 40 host families and au pairs. Families live throughout the metro area and au pairs come from many different places including Africa, Latin America, and Europe. Au Pairs first need to pass the Class D Knowledge Exam and then pass the Class D Skill Exam.
A social security number is not required to take the Class D Knowledge Exam. However, a social security number is required to take the Class D Skill Exam. If the au pair arrives with an international driver’s license, it is valid for 60 days. Au pairs are required to be on their host family’s car insurance.

An Au Pair will need to get a Social Security # before getting a bank account and driver’s license. Go Au Pair will provide a welcome packet with social security information, on the Au Pairs arrival. We advise Au Pairs to wait 10 days after arrival to get their social security number. You can make an appointment at a social security office, closest to your home.
